Linda,Nora,Fabi & Hannah

Visiting the Dom in Aachen-one of the oldest churches in Germany.

I am a big fan of  the many artistic fountains .

Prost with the Johenen sisters during the Germany/Ghana game.

Its a beautiful day for a stroll through Monschau.
A small town with a lot of charm.

Monschau a small resort town in the Eifel region of western Germany.

This sign is a symbol of a historic building that
can not be renovated or altered in any way to insure that it
 maintains its original structure.

Half-timbered houses with slate-roofs that are nearly unchanged for 300 about years

Evangelical bridges
The river Rur runs through it.

Linda and Johan
If you marry at the church in town you can have
your name added to the tree.

"In my head everything is funny"

If you leave me...can I come with you?
After Monschau...
We arrived at Uncle Herbert and Aunt Hanne's house

Herbert's Garden, his pride and joy.

Fresh salad from the garden.
Garden Goodies

Herbert's Special sauce.
I love his passion for cooking and for life.

Hanne recreating Oma's famous sauteed potatoes and asparagus

And yet another collaborative culinary creation with the family.
Everything tastes better when prepared and shared with friends and family.

A bike ride through the countryside on our way to the Schutzenfest.

Schützenfest
Schützenfest (German "marksmen's festival")
is a traditional festival or fair featuring a target shooting
 competition

At a Schützenfest, contestants compete based on their shooting abilities,
for example by shooting at a wooden representation of an eagle
.
The winner of the competition becomes the 'Schützenkönig' ("king of marksmen")
until the next year's competition.
and his Queen.
Last years King...

The one who gets the last remnants of the perch, is the winner. Here you see she spits the wooden bird in half.
This years Queen!!!!

She said I am more than welcome next year ....
but without my "GummiStiefel"(rainboots)... : (

Herbert,a proud member of the Schutzenfest!

Ending the night with music by firelight was a pure delight
